Jouko Korkeasaari’s new sculptural installation, Mystical Rapture, is all about the moment when we lose control. It consists of 17 human figures who are all transported by a strange ecstasy, abandoning themselves to movement as if engaged in some primitive dance. They rise up into the air, they fall down and crawl on the floor, quite oblivious of the world around them.

The underlying concept of the work is trance, that extraordinary state of the human mind when we become receptive to elements arising from the subconscious or impulses from the super-ego. Mystical Rapture seems to evoke something forgotten or repressed, inviting us to glimpse into a different dimension, to relinquish control and let Korkeasaari’s mystical world carry us away.

The installation can be viewed through the HAM corner windows 24/7.
