Vedenkantaja / The Water Bearer

`The Water Bearer’ is a romantic piece of sculpture, resembling the realistic and idealistic sculpture of the 19th century. It depicts a young woman raising a water jar, dressed in a garment typical of Antiquity. Viktor Malmberg made the bronze work in 1923, and it was placed in its present location in 1924. The work belongs to the City of Helsinki’s art collection, which is managed and curated by HAM.
