Artist Michael Schilkin

, Helsinki

The Toukola Parish Hall was designed by the architects’ office O. Leka & K. Arajärvi and completed in 1955. The relief was donated by Oy Arabia Ab where the artist, Michael Schilkin, worked as a designer. The relief shows a family, the father and a son, the mother and daughters, enjoying their hobbies. In the middle is a factory and above it a dove as a symbol of the Holy Spirit and the parish. Many of Toukola’s residents were employed at Arabia at the time.

The work doesn’t belong to the City of Helsinki’s art collection, which is managed by HAM.
