The work is part of an art project which was intended to bring the Arabianranta environs to life. Smith is a diverse artist, working with different mediums such as sculpture, paintings, industrial and decorative arts-such as ceramic techniques. Smith migrated from the USA to Finland in 1962. Smith’s art typically features illuminous colours and clear lines. He was awarded a prestigous Finnish national art prize, the Taideteollisuuden Valtionpalkinto, in 2001.
