Timo Rytkönen: Tribute to School Meals, 2003. Photo: HAM/Marja Pursiainen. Tribute to School Meals Artist Timo Rytkönen Porolahti Comprehensive School's Tammisalo facility, Paasitie 5, 00830 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Limited access: the work is available to view for the users of the premises only. Tribute to School Meals by Timo Rytkönen (b. 1962, Kuopio) is made of coloured plastic tubes installed between two sheets of glass. The appearance of the kinetic work changes with the viewer’s vantage point. The identifiable motif disappears when the work is viewed frontally and reappears when viewed from the side. The subject, school meals, is an integral part of everyday school life. The four figures in the work tell a story: the uppermost plate carries a full portion of food, which gets smaller in the next two plates, and the lowest plate only contains some leftovers. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
