Stories, variation 1–5 Artist Markku Keränen Haartman Hospital, Haartmaninkatu 4, 00290 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Limited access: the work is available to view for the users of the premises only. Consisting of a series of five inkjet prints, Stories by Markku Keränen (b. 1945, Salla) spreads into the interior of the hospital. The abstract images are made with a single pigment ink on white paper ground. The round patterns are reminiscent of knitwork. The colour of Variation 1 is off-yellow, Variation 2 is the fresh green of grass, Variation 3 pale blue, Variation 4 yellow and Variation 5 red. As their titles imply, the works are variations of silkscreen patterns designed by Keränen for the glass façade of the hospital. The installation was produced under the Percent for Art programme. The Stories series belongs to the Helsinki Art Museum collection. At map
