Bambi – A story of a life in the forest

In this workshop, led by Katja Tukiainen, we will paint using watercolours and liquid ink. We will draw inspiration for the paintings by studying Tukiainen’s work Bambi Forever. The work’s Bambi figure can be seen as a reference to vulnerability and innocence, but also as a symbol of rebellion.

In her art, Katja Tukiainen (b. 1969) addresses the conflicts and various dimensions of girlhood and cuteness: bravery and sensitivity, anarchy and empathy. Tukiainen has studied at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Venice Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts. Tukiainen has illustrated children’s books and published comic books.
