Public transport and parking

HAM Tennis Palace is located in the Helsinki city centre right next to Kamppi Shopping Centre. You can easily reach us from anywhere in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area using public transport.

By metro

By tram
The closest tram stop (routes 1, 4 and 10) is located in front of the Natural History Museum. There is also a stop at Kampintori (routes 7 and 9).

By bus
There are several bus stops next to Tennis Palace and on the ground floor of the Kamppi Shopping Centre. The nearest stop (bus 24) is in front of HAM’s main entrance on Eteläinen Rautatienkatu.

By train
The distance to the railway station is approximately 500 m.

Parking
There are no accessible parking places in the immediate vicinity of Tennis Palace. There are parking spaces subject to a parking fee on Eteläinen Rautatienkatu.

For visitors traveling by car, there are two parking halls connected to Kamppi Shopping Centre: P-Kamppi, which can be reached via Olavinkatu, and P-CityForum, which can be reached via Simonkatu, Jaakonkatu (turn from Eteläinen rautatienkatu and Pohjoinen rautatienkatu) and Ruoholahdenkatu. The parking halls have lift access to Kamppi Shopping Centre.

Access to the main entrance (Eteläinen Rautatiekatu 8)

The pick-up and drop-off area is located in the vicinity of the entrance (maximum distance 5 metres), giving easy access to the pavement. The route to the entrance of Tennis Palace is clearly marked and is of even surface, sufficiently wide and sufficiently lit. There is a canopy above the entrance.

The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly and the glass doors have contrast markings. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving around for example with a wheelchair. There are thresholds over 2 cm high at the entrance.

Route to museum facilities

HAM’s ticket counter and entrance are located on the second floor of Tennis Palace, which is accessible using lifts located in the vicinity of all the exits. On the Eteläinen Rautatienkatu side of the building there is an escalator leading directly to the museum ticket counter.

The ticket counter is located on the second floor of Tennis Palace. Lift D provides direct access to the ticket counter. The ticket counter does not use a queue number system. There are no seats for queuing.

The museum doors are clearly marked and the glass doors have contrast markings. The exhibition facilities are located on two floors. Lift access to the upper exhibition level (3rd floor) is located in the inner lobby of the museum. The workshop facility is also accessible on the museum´s lower floor.

Lifts

The main entrance of the museum is located on the second floor of Tennis Palace, which is easiest to reach using a lift (C or D). The exhibition facilities are located on two floors (2nd and 3rd floor). There is a lift connection to the third floor inside the museum. The lift doors open automatically and the floor numbers can be felt with fingers.

Helpers

Escorts and helpers of rehabilitation patients and disabled persons have free admission to the museum. Guide and service dogs are also welcome to HAM.

Services and aids

Toilets

The toilets are located within the museum. They are not divided by gender but can be used freely by anyone. There is also an accessible toilet located on the same floor as the ticket counter. The door of the toilet is opened using a button and closes automatically.

Wheelchairs, strollers and folding chairs

The museum has wheelchairs, strollers and a baby carrier visitors can use free of charge during their visit. Our exhibition facilities also offer chairs and benches for resting, as well as mobile folding chairs.

Induction loop and hearing aids

The ticket counter has an induction loop that is available for use upon request as well as a hearing aid. For guided tours, visitors can reserve the use of sound-amplifying guide radio equipment. Please reserve the equipment when reserving your guided tour.

Childcare room

There is a childcare table in the accessible toilet located at the end of the ticket counter lobby.

Cloakroom and item storage

The cloakroom is located across from the ticket counter. Use of the cloakroom is free of charge to HAM visitors. There are also lockable storage lockers next to the cloakroom. The cloakroom and the lockers close at 19:00, so the lockers must be emptied beforehand. For security reasons, large bags, backpacks, umbrellas and outdoor clothing must be stored in the cloakroom or lockers.

Magnifying glasses and torches

Visitors can borrow magnifying glasses and torches from the ticket counter.

Photography in the exhibition facilities is permitted. Please don´t use flash.
