This work, placed outside a Nordea Bank branch, is Growth and Flame by Eila Hiltunen. Made of stainless steel, it is 158 cm tall and 132 cm wide. A similar but larger steel sculpture, also called Growth and Flame, was erected in Berlin in the 1990s. It was purchased by Constanze Pressehaus from the artist when she had an exhibition in Berlin.

The most famous of all of Eila Hiltunen’s works is the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, completed in 1967. Hiltunen has created numerous public artworks in Finland as well as abroad.

This piece does not belong to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum.
