A summer day with Tove

Spend a lovely summer day with Tove! We will make flower crowns, listen to excerpts from Tove Jansson’s The Summer Book, and enjoy the offerings of the pop-up café. You can arrive at a time that suits you best.  

9 August is Tove Jansson’s birthday and Finnish Art Day. In honour of this event, admission to HAM is free!

Flower crown workshop  

at 13–16 

In the workshop, you can make a beautiful flower crown from paper for yourself or as a gift. You can make a classical crown or a tiara perched atop the head. No earlier experience is required. All materials will be available at the workshop.  

Excerpts from The Summer Book  

at 13–17.30 

In the atmospheric HAM hall, we will listen to excerpts from Tove Jansson’s The Summer Book (1972), read by actor Bella Paasimäki. Paasimäki will read excerpts alternately in Finnish, Swedish and English, progressing from the beginning to the end of the book. Alongside the reading, we can share memories of Tove. Excerpts will be read in eight sessions every half hour:  

13.00–13.30 Finnish

Pop-up café  

at 11.30–19  

On the second floor of Tennis Palace, Finnkino’s pop-up café will serve the whole day from 11.30 to 19. Tea, coffee, and savoury and sweet treats will be available at the café. Cash and card payments are accepted.
