Artist Viktor Jansson

, Helsinki

This work was originally titled ‘Ready’. The heroic granite statue is a celebration of robust physical strength. The former assistant chief of police and well-known athlete, Kaarlo Soinio, modelled for the work.

The work was sculpted by Viktor Jansson on commission from Uno Staudinger in 1913 and was placed in a niche in the wall surrounding the Ensi hospital, later known as Villa Ensi, constructed by the architect Selim A. Lindqvist.

The work doesn’t belong to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum.
