Guidelines for a safer space We pledge to maintain a non-discriminatory, harassment-free space and expect that our visitors pledge to uphold these aspects as well. We assume responsibility for our actions and behaviour and treat others considerately. This way, we create physical and mental spaces with equal opportunities for everyone to participate and take action. We understand that we sometimes – unconsciously and unintentionally – act in a harmful manner. Therefore, we will learn from our mistakes to be able to improve our actions and behaviour. These guidelines are also included in our communications-related accessibility principles. To stick to these principles, we will use understandable language and, if necessary, communicate multilingually. HAM pledges to maintain a non-discriminatory, harassment-free space. We expect that our visitors pledge to uphold these aspects as well. We are all equal. We try to be aware of our assumptions about other people’s ability, language, culture, gender, appearance, sexual orientation, age or other characteristics to make sure that everyone can genuinely be who they are. We respect everyone’s personal physical space. We ask before touching anyone. We don’t harass anyone verbally or non-verbally. We let everyone enjoy art in peace, and we give space. We are aware of our use of space, and we respect others’ space. You can take photos of our works and exhibitions without a flash and publish them. However, respect others’ privacy. Do not take photos of other people without their express permission. Safety is a joint effort. If you experience inappropriate behaviour, let us know about it. We will intervene, offer support and, if the situation cannot be resolved, remove the person behaving inappropriately from the premises. You can also give anonymous feedback after your visit. We process feedback regularly and will get back to you if you so wish.
